Grant Nowell
Senior Advertiser photographer Grant Nowell has been the main features photographer for The Advertiser for many years and also served as pictorial editor for four years. As a photographer he is known for his passion and initiative, and his images are part of the definition of the newspaper. He even made Alexander Downer famous by capturing him in fishnet stockings. That photograph won him a Walkley Award Nomination, and he has received many awards in his career.
Grant Nowell has been a committed member of the MEAA for many years, serving on its house committee. Indeed, he was involved with the negotiations with management over the forced redundancies which led to him leaving the newspaper. He is also extensively involved in volunteer community work.
